December 1, 2023:

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is upgrading the electric system in the Village of Maple Bluff to enhance service reliability and to provide a more efficient delivery of electricity. This work will involve installing new underground electric lines along portions of Farwell Drive and Summit Road, as well as removing some of the existing overhead power lines.

If you haven’t already, soon you will be seeing construction activity in your area. This may include MGE personnel and contractors:

  • locating property pins and placing flags,
  • installing underground conduit and electrical cables through a process called directional drilling, and
  • installing new transformers and pedestals.
The image shows a red caution flag in grass on the left and a green utility box surrounded by mulch and plants in a yard on the right.

This process should take approximately two months to complete. We will do our best to minimize noise and disturbance to your property.

Once the new underground electric lines are active, some 0verhead electric lines will be removed by MGE crews. Some overhead lines will stay to feed electrical services to homes. MGE will also restore any disturbed areas by backfilling any holes and reseeding with a grass seed mix.
