Refuse Service

The Village has been divided into two refuse pick-up days: Lower Bluff on Mondays and Upper Bluff on Tuesdays. Please have your items to the curbs no later than 7:00am. If a Holiday falls on a Monday/Tuesday pick-up dates will be pushed back. Recyclable items will be picked up on the same schedule as trash by Green Valley. To obtain a recyclable container please contact the Public Works Department at the Village Center.

Compact Flourscent Lighting (CFL's) or Flourscent Light Tubes

Return them to the place of purchase or visit: www.countyofdane.com/pwht (which will give you a list of businesses that will dispose of them for a fee of $1.00 or for free)

Hazardous (Ammunition, Explosives & Fireworks)

Contact the Maple Bluff Police Department for proper disposal (244-1430).

Syringes, Lancets or other medical sharps please contact the Maple Bluff Fire Department for disposal options (244-3390).

Medicine Disposal

For unused medications or drugs go to meddropdane.org or you can drop them off at East Madison Police Station located at 809 S. Thompson Drve. Hours of Operation are: 8:00am-4:00pm

Oil, Oil Filters

As of Jan. 1, 2011, Wisconsin Landfills will no longer be accepting oil filters. For a list of locations that will properly dispose of oil filters, please visit: http://www.countyofdane.com/pwht/recycle

Snow, Leaves and Brush

It is unlawful to plow or shovel snow into Village streets. This causes more hazards for all residents. In the event of snow in the forecast, please park your vehicles off the streets to allow for snow removal and emergency personnel to access residential homes.

Large items (appliances, furniture, etc.) will be picked up on the regular refuse days with a sticker, which can be purchased from the Village Center. (Appliance Fees). If you wish to leave these items out on a separate day from your refuse service, please call the Village Center to see if Public Works is available.

  Clean Sweep Program

The Department of Public Works will no longer collect or accept clean sweep related items. Using the Clean Sweep Program insures that waste materials are properly disposed of and usable materials become available for those interested through the product exchange program. The drop off site is located at the Dane County Highway Garage at 2302 Fish Hatchery Rd. 608-294-5366. Hours of operation: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 7:30am-2:00pm.
